THE NOSTALGICS BIG BAND AT LANCASTER OHIO

The Nostalgics, Lancaster Ohio’s 18-piece jazz orchestra and dance band, was formed more than 30 years ago as an offshoot of the Olivedale Senior Center Concert band, now known as the Lancaster Community Band. The Nostalgics Big Band is now an independent, self-governing, voluntary, non-profit organization. In addition to the band’s popular dance nights at Olivedale, the band plays at area dance halls for those who like to dance to the ballads and rhythms of live music. Proud to be a unique community resource, this swinging musical ensemble has performed at many Lancaster and Fairfield County venues, including the Downtown Bandstand Summer Series, the renowned Lancaster Festival, Lancaster Country Club, the Lodge in Lancaster, the Eagles, Elks, and Moose Lodges, retirement homes, weddings, fundraisers and the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club.
The Nostalgics band features musical arrangements from the Big Band Swing Era, including hits recorded by Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Les Brown, Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and others. Also included in the band’s repertoire are well-known pop, rock, blues, Broadway, and movie songs.
